Hey friends! Welcome to my journal. I love having a space where I can share ideas and reflect on my work. Here you'll find collections of my recent sessions, as well as tips and suggestions for styling, session preparation, & more!
The Emily Photography studio is always ready for capturing your family memories. I provide everything from props and accessories, to diapers and refreshments! There’s not much you need to worry about when you have a session with me, but here are some reminders & tips in preparing for a studio newborn session!
If you have never been before, come visit prior to your studio newborn session to see what I have! Browse my selection of accessories and props. Having an idea of the things you want incorporated beforehand will be less pressure for you. You don’t want to make all these decisions on session day! It will also allow me to set up prior to your arrival. It’s also nice to see the space before you come so it’s not foreign to you or your little ones, especially older siblings! When they see my bin of toys, my hope is that they feel comfortable hanging out and playing, especially while their baby brother or sister is getting photos taken 🙂
Deciding what to wear can be a chore. Believe me, I can totally relate! I’m here to help if you need advice on what to wear or bring for baby. You can select from my wardrobe or bring whatever you’d like from home. I love when families bring things near and dear to them to use in a session! Selecting your outfits before the session will make it easier for you to get out of the house because let’s face it – leaving the house with a newborn and all the baby gear is exhausting! If you need inspiration you can visit my Amazon Storefront for outfit ideas!
In preparing for a studio newborn session, it’s important to plan ahead for future feedings. A newborn session runs anywhere from 2 to 3 hours long, which allows for feeding breaks if needed. Pack anything and everything you need to feed your baby because we all know that a fed baby is a happy one! It’s important for baby to be comfortable and content so I can make the most out of those sweet little newborn poses.
On the day of your session, come in, relax, and enjoy the moments together. As long as you have everything you need to keep the baby content, I can take care of the rest. From wardrobe choices, to accessories and even emergency diapers & wipes – I’ve got you covered. Make yourself at home, have a cup of coffee, or even a snack! While I capture photos of your little one, the older children can play with the toys or watch television. Whatever they need to keep themselves occupied and happy is good with me! I want my space to be welcoming and comfortable for you all.
I had the pleasure of capturing this sweet family who just welcomed their second baby boy. They came fully prepared with what they needed for the baby, including a variety of cute outfits that mom wanted him to wear for pictures! Emily Photography props were used as well, but this mama was SO prepared with the cutest accessories from home! They even brought their own dump truck for the baby to pose in! The proud big brother made himself right at home with the studio toys and enjoyed the time with his little brother. When he needed his own breaks from photos, he made himself comfortable on the couch with Dad, while his mama and I focused on posing the baby for photos.
If you are expecting or wondering how you should be preparing for a studio newborn session, reach out and I can help you along the way! I am always ready to help you plan and capture these sweet moments for your growing family 🙂 Let’s get started!
