Your baby only has ONE 1st birthday. It’s the first year of parenting and so many months of growth for your little one. Why not honor this special time in your family?! You’ll want to remember those sweet faces looking up at you, the sticky fingers, and cute little toes. Freeze time for just a second with an outdoor milestone session in NJ.

An outdoor milestone session is on the simpler side! You really don’t need much other than a few props (if any) like a birthday hat, balloons, or a cake. Anything that could signify the milestone is welcomed, but if you just want your baby in a beautiful natural setting, that is great too! This type of session works well in your backyard or even a local park. It’s important though, to think about the location and make sure you’re okay with your baby doing a little exploring. A blanket is always a great staple, just in case! It’s always those sweet candid shots with their eyes full of wonder that make this stage so rewarding and one to remember. 

Milestone Session Outside at Ramapo Valley County Reservation

I had the opportunity to capture a returning client’s one year old for his birthday at the Ramapo Reservation. Mom planned this session well. She knew she wanted to do it in the grass with simple props such as a blanket, and a number 1 balloon. The color scheme was neutral (which of course, I LOVED) and everything came together nicely in the beautiful light. Big brother got in on the fun too and it was just adorable to capture! Judging by the photographs, you’d never think that there was rain in the forecast! This was one of the cutest outdoor milestone sessions that I’ve done to date. Sometimes simpler really is better!
